Question 10: I have applied for a residence permit, can I travel abroad?
Answer 10: If your visa period continues, you can exit and enter. If you do not have a visa, you need to get a 15-day exit permit from the immigration office.
Question 11: My residence permit request was rejected, can I exit-enter and request a new residence permit?
Answer 11: Yes, but you can apply for a different type of residence permit. You cannot reapply for the same type of residence permit within 6 months of the refusal. For example, if your first application was tourism, your second application can be a residence permit.
Question 12: I have a short-term residence permit, I often go abroad, will my residence permit be cancelled?
Answer 12: Yes. The law states that the residence permits of those who stay abroad for 120 days within the 1-year residence period are cancelled. But in practice, it is often seen that it is not cancelled.
Question 13: I have a family residence permit, I often go abroad, will my residence permit be cancelled?
Answer 13: If you stay abroad for 180 days within one year, your family residence permit is cancelled. In practice, it is often the case that it is not cancelled.
Question 14: I had a baby in Turkey, do I have to get residency for my baby immediately?
Answer 14: A newborn baby can stay in Turkey without residence for up to 6 months, provided that it does not exceed the residence period of the mother or father. However, in practice, sometimes we hear that a fine is demanded for the baby at the exit, although 180 days have not passed, you should object to this, this demand is not legal.
Question 15: I did not get residency for my baby born in Turkey within 180 days after birth. What will happen in this case?
Answer 15: If the fee for the baby is paid at the exit from Turkey, the entry ban for the baby is not applied.
Question 16: Is there a special application regarding residence permits for disabled and sick people?
Answer 16: In the law, necessary arrangements are made for the disabled and sick. Those who are in this situation must notify the Immigration Authority.
Question 17: Is it legal to close residence permits in some neighbourhoods?
Answer 17: The Law authorises the administration to impose restrictions for reasons of public order and public security.
Question 18: My appointment date has arrived but I have missing documents, will I be given time to complete the documents?
Answer 18: Yes. You are given 30 days for missing documents. If you do not complete the missing document within this period, you are deemed to have never applied, this does not mean that the residence is rejected.
Question 19: I applied for a residence permit, but I did not attend the appointment, will my application be rejected?
Answer 19: Legally, it should not be rejected, your application will be cancelled. In this case, if you do not have a visa period, you can apply for the same type of residence by exiting and entering, and if you have a visa period, you can apply for the same type of residence again without exiting and without waiting for the 6 months to expire. In practice, we hear that the residence applications of those who do not attend the appointment are rejected, this is not correct, you should object.
Question 20: I applied for a residence permit, I had an appointment, it has been a long time, but there is no result. Is this normal?
Answer 20: The residence application must be finalised within 90 days from the date of appointment. If there are missing documents, 90 days are waited after the missing documents are submitted. However, in practice, it is finalised in a much shorter time. Our advice to you is not to wait for the end of 90 days, if it is not finalised within 2-3 weeks, go and ask.
